HMCC COVID-19 Safety Precautions

(UPDATED MONDAY, 27-07-2020)

Dear Church family,

We want to give you all the latest updates about our church community. It has been a tough season globally as the COVID-19 situation has challenged us to pivot our lifestyles in different ways, both in Hong Kong and all around the world. We know also there might be a range of emotions that we are feeling through these times and want to encourage us to remember the promise from Hebrews 4:16 (ESV), “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” This pandemic continues to affect so many around us, and as a church, let’s put our trust in Jesus Christ as we endeavour to support the global efforts in preventing the spread of the virus. As such, we will continue to adopt the following safety precaution and social distancing measures:

Sunday Celebration

In light of the updated social distancing restrictions and after discussion and deliberation with pastoral staff and executive team, we have decided that our Sunday Celebrations will be conducted fully online. We will review this arrangement on a weekly basis and communicate if there are any changes. We do hope to be able to meet together in-person and will make those announcements if and when the situation permits.

Other corporate gatherings

Similar to our Sunday Celebrations, all other corporate gatherings that include the whole church (i.e prayer gatherings, classes, and children’s church, etc) will be conducted fully online until further notice. We will also review this arrangement on a weekly basis and communicate if there are any changes and if the situation permits us to resume in-person gatherings.

LIFE Group and smaller gatherings

For other non-corporate gatherings including LIFE Group, classes, our leadership gatherings, etc, we will provide online methods of participation and ask that no more than 2 people meet together for any public gathering. Please contact the coordinator of each gathering for more information about online arrangements. For those who may be meeting together in person, please practice good hygiene, wear masks as often as possible, use hand-sanitisers, and wash hands frequently. Anyone who feels unwell with flu-like or fever symptoms, has had recent contact with anyone who has flu-like or fever symptoms, under quarantine, or recent travel history, is highly advised to stay home, take necessary precautions, seek medical assistance if applicable, and inform their leaders of their situation.

We believe that these measures will ensure that we are living out our values as a biblical community with wisdom and love for one another as well as for the greater community around us. More than anything, we pray that these trying times urge us to pray and depend on God as well as love and support one another. May we be a light and share the hope of Christ to those around us!

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at

Psalm 33:20-22
Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
