Multiplying churches in campuses and cities to transform the next generation among the nations.
To transform lost people into Christ's disciples who will then transform the world.
As a global network of churches, we want to be multiplying churches in campuses and cities to transform the next generation among the nations. Since the beginning, we have been committed to transformation, and our mission has always been to transform lost people into Christ's disciples who will then transform the world. We believe that God has a huge heart and vision for Hong Kong as well. Over 7 million people live in the city of Hong Kong, a fast-paced hub for people all over Asia. We believe that only the power of the gospel is able to provide hope to transform a life in this global city.
The Need for the Gospel
In today’s world there are more options and choices than ever before marketed to make life better — what to eat, what phone to buy, which school to go to, which career to pursue, etc. This may be more prevalent in global cities, where the pressures to be successful are often overwhelming due to competition, comparison, and lack of community. As a result, people may end up more empty, unhappy, and dissatisfied with their lives despite the abundance of options. They end up placing their value and self-worth in their titles, possessions, and accomplishments. Since it is during one’s college years when these values and identities are formed, it is that much more important to help this next generation find that sense of purpose and their God-given identity.
Why Hong Kong
We believe that only the Gospel message can truly transform someone’s life and offer eternal hope. It is through the local church where we see disciples of Christ being raised up to share this message of transformation. Therefore, our vision as a church is to influence the generations to come by planting churches on campuses in cities like Hong Kong, a global, influential city that brings people from all over the world.
Among several of the renowned and prestigious universities in Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong University, Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, there are a significant percentage of students who are coming from mainland China. If these students’ lives can be touched and transformed by God in college, as they go back to their hometown, they can then bring this message of hope to different parts of China. As Hong Kong serves as a strategic hub for all of Asia, we see the start of this church as a launching pad that can reach other nearby [global] cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and many more.
When we read about the early church in the book of Acts, we see a powerful move of the Holy Spirit through a community of believers. We highly value our LIFE Group ministry where we strive to be a Christ-centered community that reaches students, working adults and families. Our desire is to gather together in order to become disciples of Christ who learn how to love and serve God, our neighbors, the church and our cities. As people grow as followers of Christ, we would like to see them becoming equipped, mobilized and sent into different mission fields to fulfill the Great Commission.
We see God moving in powerful ways through His Church and we want to participate by multiplying churches in key campuses and cities to transform the next generation among the nations for the glory of God. We believe that an incredible city like Hong Kong is a place where the harvest is truly plentiful (Mt 9:37–38), and we desire to be faithful kingdom workers that will be obedient to God’s mission to go and make disciples of all nations (Mt 28:19–20)!
